As part of the National Day of Silence to support anti-bullying and harassment against LGBTQ youth, TEAP-MS will present the I Too Am Mississippi Storytelling Project on the campus of Jackson State University that will include a conversation, film screening, and exhibit. "Breaking the Silence on Trans Harassment & Discrimination Through Narrative Change" will tackle the topics and issues faced by the LGBTQ community on and off school campuses. LGBTQ people, especially trans individuals, are at a higher risk of bullying and harassment. This program will break the silence by sending a strong message of unity and encouragement to stand up for yourself and your rights. This safe space will explore the barriers faced by the trans community in Mississippi through storytelling and affirm the need for an environment that welcomes everyone.
This event is a part of JSU's Margaret Walker Center 13th Annual Creative Arts Festival. It is free and open to the public. Breakfast refreshments will be served.
