You are invited to the 2nd Annual Schoolhouse Rights Rock, a FREE back-to-school event to teach students, parents and advocates about the rights of young people in school. This event will take place on August 27, 2016 at Mississippi Valley State University, and is designed for middle and high school students, parents, and advocates. It will feature training workshops focusing on restraint and seclusion use in schools, encounters with law enforcement, schoolhouse rights and youth rights.
The day will consist of workshops followed by special performances featuring Theatre of the Oppressed NYC and The Peace Poets. Breakfast and lunch will be provided.
Schoolhouse Rights Rock seeks to provide students with not only the practical knowledge and understanding of their rights as students and citizens, but also the “how to” of advocating, promoting and defending these rights in the interest of positive societal change.
